Hello, and welcome to the third installment in the UCA storyline!
Of the 3 thus far, this one is probably the hardest. It is designed
for single player, though coop mode is supported but not tested.
Deathmatch, however, is NOT supported, as DIOPATRA is a bit too
large and too dark to make an enjoyable deathmatch wad. Difficulty
levels are supported but limited to basically "hurt me plenty" or
"ultra-violent."
DIOPATRA is an almost completely cavernous wad. As such, it is DARK
and a bit mazy. It is rather non-linear; you have to determine for
yourself the best way to go about completing and exploring the
different sections. This is a fairly dangerous wad - as noted, it
happens to be rather dark, though I have included several lite-goggles
to help...if you find them. DIOPATRA looks and works best if you
don't jack up the gamma correction, so play this one at night or
in a dark room. Don't blame me if you play in broad daylight
and can't see much - you've been warned! :) |

| This is dated May 1994. It's E2M3, although the underground lava theme feels like something from E3. It's less detailed than a real E3 level but the design isn't bad; 120 baddies, good balance of health and ammo. Very angular and sprawling, the constant presence of demons makes me long for the double shotgun, several of the rooms feel superfluous, and it doesn't "build" to anything - the exit is just another door. But for mid-1994 it's very good. | x | |

| A large, dark, hellish maze, with some sewer parts. This one's pretty good. The fights aren't too easy (you may have to search a bit for ammo sometimes), there are some nice traps, and the layout is quite non-linear, so you can run around the map almost any way you like. The texturing is a bit monotonous, but it's all convincingly designed. However, some things about the gameplay are a little confusing, and I felt like I more or less stumbled upon the keys and the exit. --3/5 | x |
