Why Was The Combat Shotgun Absent?

The fan favorite gun from Doom 2 wasn't brought back for Doom 3. Nerve Software brought it back for the Resurrection Of Evil expansion however. Why wasn't it in the base game?

    Patch The Doom 64 Re-releases

The fans can fix it. If the devs can't do it because of the stupid publisher, then the fans can take over.

    Duke Nukem 3D or Quake?

Duke Nukem 3D does have more features and mechanics compared to Quake.
  4. So I find a weapons mod for Zandronum. I play it with the Skulltag content and find that the Skulltag weapons don't get changes, replaced, or different sounds. Shouldn't the modder do something about those weapons as well? A reason they should probably do that is because a few times when you get one of those weapons...say the minigun for example, you can't switch weapons with the mouse wheel and then the gun disappears from your inventory when switching with the number keys and then using the wheel again.
  5. Since reboot Doom officially brought alt fires to the series, I'd like to bring Unreal's beastly guns into this. So, which arsenal do you guys prefer? Which is more fun to you? Classic Doom, Doom 3, and Unreal 2 The Awakening won't count.

    Casual thoughts on Wolfensten 3d

Gameplay is good, but the level design's too simple. A bunch of corridors and rooms with no height. Obviously it was because of the hardware at the time.
  7. It would be so sick to have a Unreal game with the single player of Unreal Gold and the multiplayer of Unreal Tournament. I'd buy it in an instant.

Unreal Single Player Needs To Return

GMan's thumbnails just bother me in general.

Unreal Tournament 2004 was and still is a very great shooter.

    Dissecting Sega Saturn Doom

Wasn't Saturn Hexen a rushed port? Either that, the PS1 version, or both used the beta version of Hexen.

    Dissecting Sega Saturn Doom

We need a true Saturn port of Classic Doom.
  13. Remember the game Unreal? Epic's first game to use the Unreal engine. It was of course a first person shooter. Why did Epic choose the fps genre to demonstrate their new engine at the time?
  14. How come I've never heard of Klingon, and why wasn't it as popular as Unreal?
  15. Weren't RPG games the rage back then?
  16. Would alt fires have benefited Doom?

Microsoft Windows 11 confirmed exclusive to 64-bit CPUs.

    64 bit only? Big mistake.

Possibility For A UT 2004 Weapons Mod For Doom?

UT 2004 had new weapons, and the ones from '99 were altered. Rocket launcher not having the grenade secondary by default but instead a triple shot for example. The enforcer was replaced by the assault rifle.
  19. We have Doom Tournament, which brought Unreal Tournament '99 weapons and sounds to Doom. Will UT 2004 get the same treatment?
  20. Sure it was a step backwards from Unreal Tournament 2004, but how was it that it was overshadowed by the likes of Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare? How did it fail as a shooter? Did some people's tastes change at that point? What big flaws did the game have? It's a shame that it was the case. Unreal Tournament 3, like other UT games, looks a ton of fun.
