Oh, so that's what that works. I thought it meant that messages could be displayed like in both Doom 64 and Hexen 64, in which you pick multiple items of the same type in quick succession and only a single pickup message is displayed for all; it's what I was going for, but I guess ZDoom doesn't have that feature. Bummer.

The description states: When picking up multiple items with identical pickup messages at the same time, only a single pickup message is displayed for those items combined. This property disables that so that a pickup message is displayed for each item, instead. I actually want to set this for the first option, but it ain't working for me. I've tried several times going back and forth between 'true' and 'false', and nothing, I can't seem to make it work for some reason. Help.

I like the fact that there are secret areas with their respective counter, the one thing Hexen unfortunately never had, and neither did Hexen II. But it's a slaughter map, and boy, do I dislike those. I just don't understand why this stuff appeals to so many people, it gets boring and repetitive and often frustrating dealing with shitloads of monsters everywhere. I don't recall the old Doom-engine games being like this, least of all Hexen; there were never hundreds of enemies to deal with in a single map, so why is this stuff so prevalent?

It's just a matter of personal preference. They're definitely scarier than the original Cacos, but those arms just make them look less scary somehow. I actually think it'd be great to have both types as random spawners.

I'll just "borrow" some of this stuff for my own mod, thank you very much. Actually, I'll just wait for the Hell Staff and Firemace to get smooth animations, but they look so good on the other weapons.

No pressure. Would love to see it done some day, though; I hate seeing Corvus' hairy hand every time I use the Dragonclaw. 😩
