Unreal and Unreal Tounament 99 officially made free on Internet Archive
Kalashnikov47 replied to scalliano's topic in Everything Else
Yeah, mostly because of Wayback Machine. What makes you think they don't? -
Oh, dear. I knew him as the guy who voiced the vorts in Half-Life 2: Episode 2 and Alyx. Now both voice actors of the character have passed away in the same year. Rest in peace, man.

What Video Game Are You Currently Playing?

Sam and Max Save the World. I could get lots of enjoyment if Sam and Max crossed over to other games (save for Poker Night). -

Yeah, me too. I wish Laz only the best. -

Red Dead Redemption 1, the official PC port. I can't believe I got to play a non-emulated, native PC version of this game after fourteen years since this game was released. -
What "Lost Media" are you interested in?
Kalashnikov47 replied to Wadmodder Shalton's topic in Everything Else
LORE in a Minute's videos. For those who didn't know, they were a YouTube channel dedicated to a series where they, as the title implies, summarize the backstory (sometimes entire stories) of the games (also TV shows and movies) in about a minute. The first video I watched from them was the Half-Life one. I enjoyed watching their videos, as they tended to add in plenty of humour and references to other media in their videos, and their art style were charming. They were pretty much a precursor of those "recap" channels I'm seeing nowadays, especially with their short-lived spin-off, Checkpoint. They began to go radio silent after their video on Divinity: Original Sin, apparently because their parent company closed down, and they kept the videos up for about 6 years. I thought I was glad they didn't take down all of their videos unlike Machinima. Boy, was I wrong. Now, I came back to find out their videos have gone poof like Machinima, alongside their channel as well. -

Doom is set in 2145, same year as Doom 3. -
Question for artists: do you use AI as a tool?
Kalashnikov47 replied to Taw Tu'lki's topic in Everything Else
I'll put my 2 cents: I'm also not good at drawing, but I'd rather get a virus on my computer than try out some tech that's churning out disgustingly generated images through a few lines of text and causing the internet to be infested with these images, plus stealing from images and other artists all around the internet and leaving lots of carbon footprint for its shit as well. That said, much as I dislike calling this kind of tech A.I. (it's not even close to how I pictured A.I. as a young teen, i.e. sentient machines), I'm actually interested seeing it being used as a tool for improvements, such as upsampling low-quality audio and upscaling FMVs and textures for older games. -
What Games Do Yall Think Deserve The "Brutal" Treatment
Kalashnikov47 replied to Adamantium's topic in Everything Else
Punch-Out. To be fair, we had something like that back then... -
Okay, according to what I read and found on Twitter, looks like these guys are claiming responsibility for the attack. They claim they're doing this because IA supposedly supports the Israeli government just because they're based on the USA... despite the fact they're a non-profit organization and have no ties to the US government. Take this info with a jar of salt.

So I got around to getting Burnout Crash to run on Xenia (had to use the netplay build, the regular Canary build would crash [no pun intended] the moment I try to start a game). I had to say, I had plenty of fun with it and laughed like a cocaine-addicted clown because of how ridiculous the game is (in a good way) in terms of random shit, like the "super features". -
Same for me here, I was about to change my damn password. Beats me on whoever's responsible, though. Just what the hell do they gain from doing this? EDIT: I think I might've found who's behind all this. Check my post below.

Might or might not be related to the topic at hand, but Internet Archive got DDOS'd recently. On top of that usernames, e-mail addresses and salted password hashes have been breached. I'm getting real concerned now, I have an account on that website and I hope none of the files are affected. UPDATE: OH THANK GOD.

This move doesn't seem to do much good, if at all. In fact, this would only serve to give the publishers more leeway on killing games.
