OH, I FORGOT myhouse.wad! Please play myhouse.wad. I don't want to tell you anything more about it for spoilers. I promise, it isn't a troll.

Funny enough, I've been in the same boat lately! I finally got into WADs after the Kex engine remaster came out over the summer, so I'm gonna try to remember some of the ones I've played and break them down briefly: Legacy of Rust: comes included with the remaster, super fun, good starter point for what a lot of mods get up to, manageable for beginners IMHO Sigil: fun, good aesthetics, puzzles are occasionally infuriating but there's a pretty natural difficulty curve (and it was easy enough for me to beat on my Switch as opposed to mouse+keyboard) Doom Zero: combat gets a little sticky but it gives you time to get acclimated, way too many jumping puzzles but if you're more patient with it than I am you'll have fun Syringe: wonderful aesthetics, later maps might be a little tricky if you're super new to Doom (I only play on HMP myself) since the combat gets pretty hairy near the end, but more than worth a look if you're feeling bold (or playing on lower difficulties), plus the ending rules Scientist: love the look of it, great sense of humor, should be no problem on lower difficulties (and even then HMP should be fine if you don't mind getting mad once or twice) No End In Sight: huge levels that I got turned around in more than I'm comfy admitting, but the combat slowly ramps up through the whole thing in a way that's challenging but not infuriating (played this one on my Switch too), the ending will either get a weird laugh or a pained groan out of you Tetanus: okay so Tetanus rules but I uhhhh deffo struggled with a LOT of it, so I'd hold off until later Kilimanjaro: see above, but 2x as serious

Okay, thank you, I feel a lot less silly now. (I still feel silly about having FORGOTTEN TO PICK UP THE BLUE SKULL, but whatever, it's not the dumbest thing I've done in Doom.) -

Hah, so, uh, two thoughts: This is absolutely a critique more on me than on the map, but...I completely missed the arrows on the floor somehow? No joke, I was looking around and thought to myself "screw it, I haven't checked if THAT texture is a door yet", and found myself surprised and delighted when I pressed E and it opened...only to notice the arrows on the ground on my way back out after having gotten the key. Rest assured, this is a me problem for being an absolute dipshit, not because the map is badly designed. And two: are those Arch-Viles infinite?! It would explain why I sat there letting the Life Leech rip without seeming to run out of them, but I feel a little foolish for not coming to this conclusion sooner lmao -

Do you play Doom in any unconventional/quirky ways?

Asking genuinely - is it because you're listening to something else at the time, or do you just not like how it impacts the experience for you? -

Hey, no need to thank me, you're all the ones who actually made the maps, I'm just some old man who loves to hear himself talk (or type, as the case may be)! Also, thank you for clarifying what song this was - I was so sure I was hearing telephone noises throughout the map, but I either thought I was mishearing some other sound effect (the AK-47 sound or something), or the events of the previous two maps had driven me to madness and I was just hearing things. Kraftwerk is deffo something I need to get more into! -

GZDoom, Hurt Me Plenty, saves, continuous, hella casual, no other mods in use. Alright, Megawad Pals! I apologize for the, uh, heft of this post, but my band did a little tiny tour over the weekend, so I gotta dump the last few levels in one big pile! Reader, proceed at your own risk! MAP14: MAP15: MAP...31?! MAP32: MAP16: MAP17: MAP18: WE'RE SO BACK! -

Hey, you're not an idiot, we're all just lost in the mysteries of Kilimanjaro. Hell, I've been playing Doom since 1993, and I genuinely still don't know exactly how to complete Mt. Erebus without cheats, we all have our sticky levels. -

Believe me, I'm trying, but every time I tell someone we have one, they're all so...intimidated by them! (Related comic.) But hope springs eternal; maybe once we've all opened our minds to the joy, we'll be better off as a species. And I did find the post, thank you! I was delighted (and horrified) to learn the origins of this level, and how much...lore it contained, both within itself and as an artifact of the Doom community. Just makes me sad I didn't throw in with y'all sooner!
