cannonball Posted June 26, 2012 Get it here http://speedy.sh/4jmYf/concern.zip Idgames link http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/?id=17267 ------------------------------------------------------------------- I was bored and made a simple map, this has progressed into a episode speedmapping project. http://www.mediafire.com/?4g6xg5szoduo29y I shall try and do the episode as quick as possible and if applicable update the wad each day. Images http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/407/e1m13.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/14/e1m12.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/204/e1m11.png/ Current progress E1M1 - Toxic Touchdown (complete) E1M2 - Mutagenic Quarantine (complete) E1M3 - The Cleanser (complete) E1M4 - Withering Gardens (complete) E1M5 - Administration (complete) E1M6 - Laboratory (complete) E1M7 - Reactor (Complete) E1M8 - Particle Accelerator (Complete) E1M9 - Atom Smasher (complete) idgames link http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?id=16858 ----------------------------------------------------------------- The project shall be extended to 3 episodes (tech/helltech/hell, the usual stuff). Though the later maps will probably not be speedmapped but made at a more leisurely pace and whenever I have time. Episode 1 (cbspeed or colliding with the dead - updated maps from cbspeed.wad) Episode 2 "Parallel world" - Standard episode 2 theme with hopefully a lot of dark, haunting areas E2M1 - Collider Anomaly (completed) E2M2 - Logistics (completed) E2M3 - Hydrophonic Facility (completed) E2M4 - Infirmary (Completed) E2M5 - Tactical Command (Completed) E2M6 - Haunted Cellars (Completed) E2M7 - The Core (Completed) E2M8 - Gates To Hell (Completed) E2M9 - Blackout (Completed) Episode 3 "Hellish Extermination" - Standard hellfest E3M1 - Passover (completed) E3M2 - Fire Temple (completed) E3M3 - Infernal Catacombs (Completed) E3M4 - Demonizer (completed) E3M5 - Complex Trauma (completed) E3M6 - Devils Crucible (completed) E3M7 - Back To System Central (completed) E3M8 - Fortress Of Tyrants (completed) E3M9 - Cyberslayer (completed) Thought I would also add the youtube videos of the progress made through terrible demos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWQHv2qpZf4&list=PL1C31D8EAE948757B&index=6 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYnNFSd5XCw&list=PL1C31D8EAE948757B&index=7 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HX_lQKx2Qw&list=PL1C31D8EAE948757B&index=8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkbZmahSFCM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sGCsPeEi2M Testers Larzuk Nevan 0 Share this post Link to post
cannonball Posted June 27, 2012 Wad updated, now with two maps, see first post. Any comments/criticism welcome. Walter confetti Posted June 27, 2012 looks cool from the pictures, anyway for what port this level is intended? 0 Share this post Link to post
cannonball Posted June 27, 2012 Should be vanilla compatible, but I can't offer guarantees. I should learn how to use dosbox and get vanilla working. 0 Share this post Link to post
Memfis Posted June 27, 2012 The name is already taken: http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?id=15174 0 Share this post Link to post
cannonball Posted June 27, 2012 Memfis said:The name is already taken: http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?id=15174 Whoops ok, I shall leave the wad name blank for now before I find a name which isn't taken. It was just off the top of my head and I didn't check. Edit - wad now called cbspeed.wad until I can think of a better name. Lin changed in first post, though the wad is exactly the same in content 0 Share this post Link to post

I tried your E1M1 like that and it ran fine. Didn't notice any visual glitches, even despite using the Freedoom IWAD. The map's not bad, although pretty small and easy, but that's okay for E1M1 slot. Keep at it. :-) 0 Share this post Link to post
Dutch Doomer Posted June 28, 2012 Looks pretty cool. Perhaps the rooms in the screens you posted in your second reply could use some downscaling. They seem a bit large. The best shots are the ones in your first post. 0 Share this post Link to post
cannonball Posted June 28, 2012 I tried to scale down some of the areas in E1M2, not sure it worked to well though. I failed to fully make E1M3 today, though layout wise it is almost complete. Probably contains the worst train ever made. Screens of the rather rough E1M3 http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/225/e1m33.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/696/e1m32.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/27/e1m31.png/ I shall release the newest version of the wad tomorrow, hopefully with E1M3 and E1M9 completed. 0 Share this post Link to post
Shanoa Posted June 28, 2012 Just played what's available so far, i'm enjoying it. You've done a good job. :) 0 Share this post Link to post
cannonball Posted June 29, 2012 Updated wad, now with E1M3 Also a few texture alignments in E1M1 and scaling down in some areas of E1M2. Updated wad - see first post There won't be any more updates until Sunday, I'm currently in the process of moving back home from university. But I have started work on E1M9 0 Share this post Link to post
Walter confetti Posted June 29, 2012 played the e1m1 today and i found it really cool! I liked the "power ranger" midi, it made me LOL 0 Share this post Link to post
cannonball Posted July 2, 2012 Cheers, haha yeah it does have that kind of feel, I don't think that theme song transfers well to midi. I might change it tbh. Anyway, the wad has been updated now with the secret map. It should be very fun to play, quite tough in parts especially on uv, but there should be some reward to people playing the maps consecutively. Also one dodgy door in E1M3 has been patched up. Download in first post Pics of E1M9 http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/221/e1m93.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/210/e1m92.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/42/e1m91.png/ 0 Share this post Link to post
Walter confetti Posted July 2, 2012 no, no, keep the MIDI on e1m1, it could be weird but it fits good.... also, played the previous version of your wad (the one without any new fixing on e1m3...) and i found a visplane bug on doom.exe in e1m2... in e1m3 i don't found any problem of sort, died on the red keycard door room... 0 Share this post Link to post
Memfis Posted July 2, 2012 Yep, you definitely should keep that midi, it's cool. :D I've played through e1m1-e1m3 a few days ago. I thought that there was too many monsters on m2 and m3. You make large areas with a lot of room to dodge so fighting hordes feels tedious to me rather than dangerous/exciting. Here is my FDAs: http://content.wuala.com/contents/kuchitsu/Doom_DEMO/FDA/cbspeede1m1-3_11-13_mem_FDA.zip?dl=1 (I've also included the old version of the wad in case you don't have it anymore) 0 Share this post Link to post

Ah fair enough, i shall :) That's interesting, where about did you find it? As for Memfis's comments, it is probably true, so I am currently removing monsters, mostly imps, this is especially true for Map2. I am also shrinking the penultimate room. Map3, hmm, the only room I found big was the start area in the slime, that was sort of deliberate. I will see what I can do with that map. 0 Share this post Link to post
cannonball Posted July 3, 2012 E1M4 done, little different in layout, outdoor areas are difficult to do. Anyways wad updated with new map and some changes to E1M2 and E1M3. Titlepic added for funsies. See first post. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/850/e1m43.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/338/e1m42.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/444/e1m41.png/ 0 Share this post Link to post
cannonball Posted July 5, 2012 More done on this today, no new changes to the previous levels, for which I can remember E1M5 - Administration (complete) E1M6 - Laboratory (just started to make this level) No new wad update, just some screens, I shall release an update when I've finished E1M6 E1M5 http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/684/e1m51.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/16/e1m52.png/ E1M6 http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/819/e1m61.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/10/e1m62.png/ 0 Share this post Link to post
cannonball Posted July 7, 2012 E1M5 and E1M6 complete E1M6 is pretty much where my sadistic side kicks in, it's pretty deadly and you will know from about the first shot fired ;) it is finish-able/maxable as I did a steady run before applying the difficulty settings. Wad download in first post, enjoy :) 0 Share this post Link to post
cannonball Posted July 8, 2012 E1M8 complete, but only UV difficulty, e1m7 started, but only the starting area and exit finished. I will probably complete this wad by Tuesday, any thoughts on the levels so far would be much appreciated. 0 Share this post Link to post
Katamori Posted July 8, 2012 Nice work! You should continue it later with E2 and E3 style... 0 Share this post Link to post

cannonball Posted July 10, 2012 cbspeed is now complete and in beta form. I shall give it a couple of days to see what people think, and then I shall upload to Idgames. Final wad with text file can be downloaded from the link at the first post. It is advisable to use a limit removing port as it is likely that I went overboard in places and there likely to be some visplane overflows. Sorry. cannonball Posted July 11, 2012 I was just wondering, if anyone knows how to get the levels names on the end level screen to look clear and not have a grey box background instead of seeing the screen behind like this; http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/4/doomwordodd.png/ I'm using doomword, am I just doing something stupid? 0 Share this post Link to post
cannonball Posted July 21, 2012 Episode 1 released on idgames, have fun http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?id=16858 I will hopefully make Episodes 2,3 and 4 and some point. 0 Share this post Link to post
cannonball Posted October 10, 2012 I have started on making episodes 2 and 3 for this wad, thought I would show off what levels I have made and ask if anyone would like to playtest this wad during the production of the remaining levels I also changed the name of the wad from now on, using a terrible pun based on the loose storyline going here. http://www.mediafire.com/?o0khid7sj4aix3k New levels E2M1 - Collider Annomaly E2M2 - Logistics (didn't fix the secrets problem I made...facepalm) E3M1 - Passover (I posted this as a single level a long time back) E3M2 - Fire Temple Bits of E3M3 and E3M8 are present. Fixed the level titles of the intermission screen as well. 0 Share this post Link to post
