Review: Aliens Vs Predator Vs Terminator

As anyone who’s up on my reviews will guess, I look favourably on TCs and PCs. So the option of playing Aliens Versus Predator Versus Terminator seemed an inviting option, despite the mouthful of a title. Before I start reviewing this, it’s best that I mention this is an update of an older level by Sparky of kiss software ( kelm@eisa.net.au) who is continuing his crusade to clean up other people’s wads like some freaky DooM superhero.

Uggh. That’s the best word to use to describe these levels. I’m truly bemused as to what the author was trying to achieve. As you can see by the screenshots, the architecture is dull and unconvincing – a large lump of metal which, I can only assume, was meant to be a bed does not exactly set the atmosphere…

The graphics are similarly odd, with same sprite used to represent three of the weapons – why, God, oh way? – and the strange author tag appearing at the start of the level. Don’t even get me started on texture choice – as you can see from the screenshots, they’re enough to make your brain hurt – why the hell is there a wooden room in the midst of a space station? ARRRGGHH!

A level that starts with the author’s tag painted on a wall and gives you a yellow key right at the start of the level (huh?) is obviously a waste of space. Sparky should try updating some good wads rather than waste his time on crap like this. The best thing about it is the title screen, and you shouldn'y bother going any further than that.
