Doom Legacy
When it came to pioneering new features, Doom Legacy was at the top of its game near the
beginning stages of its existence. It had been the first to implement gameplay-altering
features such as jumping and freelook, as well as the usual hi-res support. Legacy
was also the first to introduce player skins to Doom, and other cool features such as
translucent water are on the way. A hardware accelerated version is in the works, but it'll
take some time for it to even reach beta stage. The authors haven't brought out any new
releases to the venerable port as of late, but hopefully this will change when their next
big feature is finished: open entry into multiplayer games a la Quake!

Other useful links:
Doom Legacy website: Doom Legacy's official
home has been inactive as of late, but hopefully the Legacy team will get things worked out
and get back into the updating groove. The site holds a very busy forum, editing resources,
and even maps to play around with, so it's most definitely worth at least a visit.
Doom LegacyGL website:
This website isn't actually part of the main Doom Legacy page, but is instead maintained by
LegacyGL author Thierry Van Elsuwe. You should come here for the latest news on LegacyGL's progress,
as well as the latest executables.
Doom Legacy: Strangely enough, this isn't the domain
for the actual Doom Legacy source port. Rather, it is an all around decent resource for Doom
Legacy players, and holds features such as maps, skins, and a player's list to rival our own.
The Skin Connection: Looking to spice up your Legacy multiplayer
games? Check out the Skin Connection and download some new skins to dress yourself up in! Don't know
what a skin is? Check out our skin help section to find out more.
Cajun Bot: The Cajun is a bot constructed by out
of the Doom Legacy sources by code monkey Yoghurt. It's come quite a long way from its original incarnation,
but of course still needs quite a bit of polish. Currently the Cajun is pushover compared to the ruthless
Doombot, but also happens to be a more realistic opponent as well.
Doombot: If you happen to be a sado-masochist and love Doom
deathmatch at the same time, then the Doombot is your ideal opponent. The new nodes system lets it do
some very scary things - for example, the current Doombot (3.0a) can navigate our September map of the month
like a pro, and even understands how to get the BFG. If you've played the map, you can understand the full
meaning of this sentence. We're not kidding though, the Doombot will walk all over most players; you have
been warned!
